a plucky Angeleno who, despite years of hard work and devotion at a dated California magazine, is not promoted when her boss is fired. Instead, the new management hires Krystal Martinez, a D List reality star, to gut and glamorize their traditional cookbooks for the Instagram crowd.  

 

Now Eleanor has a choice: accept her role as Krystal’s ghost writer and chief coddler or quit. But how many opportunities are left for a 52-year old forever assistant? Meanwhile, her husband Duke is having his own midlife crisis — wandering in the Yosemite wilderness,  tripping on ayahuasca — and might never be  back.  

 

As she battles celebrity chefs, 30-something marketing geniuses, and the rich L.A. food scene, Eleanor must prove she has the wit and the grit to make it after all.
